Half Over October!

During the first month (I’m writing this during parent/teacher conferences) we discussed or produced work in the area of: Digital Citizenship, where we discussed the proper behavior on our district-issued chromebooks (We also learned about the new features of the 2-in-1 touchscreen chromebooks. We are SO lucky to have these great devices) both in and out of the classroom, how to behave safely and respectfully online, the Autumnal Equinox🌗 Fiction vs non-fiction, started learning about Hispanic culture and important Hispanic Americans when Hispanic Heritage month started on September 15.

We learned the two different ways that the second Monday in October, Columbus Day and Indigenous Peoples’ Day, are recognized around the country AND how reading and writing scary stories 🧛🏻‍♀️ can help build resilience and empathy in children!

Next we will learn about the origins of Thanksgiving and holiday celebrations around the globe, as well as participate in the international Hour of Code during Computer Science Week💻 It is still weird to be in the middle of a pandemic and to help manage spacing and mask-wearing but children are remarkably adaptable and continue to seem genuinely glad to be at school, as are we.

Happy Fall Harvesty time! 🎃🍁🍂 We’ve got this! ❤️
