Tech Tools

Midway Elelemntary is a one-to-one device school, which makes us very fortunate. In the library, we have 15 iPads and code-sourced robots to our STEM currculum. Parents of first graders can expect their budding techies to be accessing learning websites in class regularly and getting far more masterful with keyboarding. We spend a good chunk of the first few months (given I see grades K-2 kids just 36 minutes twice a week) just learning to sign in to the chromebook. However, these tasks have been improved in recent years by students simply being more onlive savvy and because we have built in shrt cuts such as skipping the “@mead354.org” step.

Students need to sign in to download apps or extensions, as well as sign in to their school Gmail accounts, Google Classroom, the Follett online catalog and Schoology.

Don’t worry, I will still be promoting disconnecting from screens and getting lost in a diverse selection of wonderful literature!
